OWLS "Winter Camping" Equipment List
Equipment
Backpack (to fit all your gear)
0-Degree Sleeping bag
Fleece sleeping bag liner (It will keep you warmer, longer)
Roll Pad (required item)
Water Bottle
Fire Starting Kit
Pocket knife
Flashlight or Headlamp (don’t for get extra batteries)
Hand Warmers and Feet Warmers (For Night-time warmth)
Tent with fly (we have tents as well) - (Not needed for Winter Blow-out)
Tarp (Everyone must bring a tarp!!) - (Not needed for Winter Blow-out)
Fleece blankets (remember how cold it was on our first trip ** -10 degrees)
Personal First Aid Kit w/ a space blanket (Always good to have)
Clothing
2 pr. Silk or polyester long underwear (it breathes well and dries quickly)
3 pr. wool sock liners (silk will also work nicely)
5 pr. heavy wool socks (Got to change them before bed each night)
2 pr. wool pants or fleece pants (NEVER BRING BLUE JEANS!!! You'll be soaked to the waist and they'll never dry!)
Waterproof shell pants (Gortex is our favorite choice but it's costly)
Polertec/Winter Jacket (Should be Waterproof)
3 Heavy Wool/fleece/non cotton sweaters/tops.
3 mid layers/tops (long sleeve shirts)
3 base layers (If you get really cold) – thermals
Wool Hat/ fleece hat
Waterproof, warm mittens (NOT GLOVES…they wont keep you as warm at night)
Water resistant footwear plus and extra pair of sneakers (Just in case)
Trash bags!!!
*Please bring anything else that will make you more comfortable, (i.e toiletries!!!!)
Caving Gear!!!
**Only for Giving Thanks Overnight Trip!!**
Remember anything that goes in the cave, comes out wet, dirty, and nasty. Leave the Abercrombie and Gucci at home. Thanks. : )

Sturdy pair of boots or shoes (Not included in list above)
Wool socks (Not include in list above)
Long underwear bottoms & top
Sweat pants (non cotton preferred)
Sweater (non cotton preferred, fleece is awesome)
Wind pants
Nylon shell jacket
Work gloves
Towel for changing
Complete changes of clothes, yes, even underwear (Included in list above)

Parents – If you have any questions about the “Giving Thanks” trip please call Colin or Aubrey. Our goal is to give these amazing kids the experience. It is not to break your bank. If your OWL is unable to make the trip due to lack of gear, don’t worry about it we can make alterations and lend out some gear to help.
